With two number-one albums on the Billboard Classical charts, The
Five Browns, a family of piano prodigies all in their twenties, have continued to make their mark in the classical world. Whether playing individually or playing complex five-piano pieces their passion is undeniable. Five Steinways being played simultaneously is an unparalleled experience that spans many generations.
Their popularity began in 2002 when People magazine dubbed them the “Fab Five” and the quintet was featured on national television shows such as Oprah and 60 Minutes. Siblings Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae’s latest album, Browns in Blue, features complex classical pieces by Rachmaninoff, Brahms and Chopin, in addition to jazz-influenced contemporary works by Gershwin.
Their Jesse Auditorium performance will feature selections from their most recent album
The Five Browns in Hollywood. The album is a compilation of songs from popular Hollywood movies including selections from Hitchcock movies,
Star Wars and
The Sting, among others.
Deondra Brown and her husband are expecting their first child on November 1st. Stepping in for Deondra for the November 2 Columbia concert will be pianist Greg Anderson. Greg first met The 5 Browns when they were all students at The Julliard School. Greg is also the arranger of a number of pieces that are performed by The 5 Browns.
