One of the most respected brass ensembles in the United States, Burning River Brass has been dazzling audiences from Alaska to Taiwan, and can be heard on public radio’s
Performance Today as well as radio stations throughout the United States and abroad. Composed of twelve of the finest brass and percussion players in the country, Burning River Brass is an ensemble on fire!
Their program,
From Stage to Screen, will take a journey through music from the concert stage to the theatre, the small screen and the big screen. Selections include Strauss’
Also Sprach Zarathustra (known to many as the theme from
2001: A Space Odyssey); Rossini’s
Barber of Seville, which was introduced to many through the classic Bugs Bunny cartoon; Gounod’s
Funeral March of the Marionette, used as the introduction to
Alfred Hitchcock Presents; Tchaikovsky’s
Sleeping Beauty, known from the Walt Disney film; and Bizet’s
Carmen, from
Bad News Bears. The performance will then move to music written specifically for Broadway and film, such as Bernstein’s
West Side Story, and selections from James Bond,
The Natural,
Raiders of the Lost Ark, and
Star Wars!
